The UFC is working on finalizing on interim flyweight title fight between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France at UFC 277 on July 30, sources say.
As we previously reported, the original plan was Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno 4, however, Figueiredo, the current flyweight champion, is still nursing an injured finger.
So, the UFC is moving on with the interim title fight between the former champion, Moreno, and Kara-France, who has won three straight. Moreno lost the belt to Figueiredo in January.
Moreno beat Kara-France via unanimous decision in December 2019.
Amazingly, Kara-France will be one of three City Kickboxing fighters fighting for a belt in July with teammates Israel Adesanya and Alex Volkanovski scheduled to defend their respective titles on July 2, as well.
UFC 277 doesn’t have a finalized location just yet, but the current front-runner, sources, to host the event is Dallas. Also currently slated to happen on that card is Julianna Peña vs. Amanda Nunes 2, though, that’s not quite locked in just yet, per sources.
Nathan Diaz has also been campaigning for a fight on that card, though there currently isn’t a deal in place for that happen yet.
Instead of weighing in the fighters 24 hours prior to the fight, why dont they weigh in same day? Lets say 6 hours before the fight? There wouldnt be that hard weight cuts because its too short to discover and they would fight in realistic weight classes. Everybody moves one up, and its done. What do you think?
Recover, not discover… sorry
