ONE Championship's first live event on Amazon Prime Video set
ONE Championship’s first live event on Amazon Prime Video is set.
The card will be on Friday, Aug. 26, and it will air live in the United States primetime hours, despite actually taking place in Singapore, sources say.
The main event will be Adriano Moraes vs. Demetrious Johnson 2 for the ONE flyweight title.
Johnson (30-4-1) suffered his first KO loss ever against Moraes last April. Since then, he beat Muay Thai legend Rodtang in a mixed rules bout in March.
Moraes (20-3) has successfully defended the ONE belt twice, including the win over Johnson last year.
The card will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, but, just like UFC 275 next weekend, will take place in the morning locally so that it could air in primetime in North America. The hope is for the promotion to finally hold at least one event in America next year, but those plans aren’t finalized yet.
The news is expected to be officially announced on Friday’s ONE 158 broadcast, sources say.
ONE announced it had signed a multi-fight deal with Prime Video to exclusively air its events in the US and Canada. More details on that deal can be found here.
