Some thoughts on this lovely Tuesday morning …
I’ll be hosting the Deron Williams x Frank Gore press conference in midtown Manhattan today at 12 pm et. As you already know, the former NBA star will fight the former NFL star in the PPV opener of the Dec. 18 Jake Paul x Tommy Fury. Both guys have dabbled in some training over the years but have never fought. I’m curious to find out why they are doing this and how they ended up as each other’s first foes.
It’s been really fun doing these things that I have never done before, like hosting pressers, in-ring interviews, analysis. Appreciate the good folks at Showtime for these opportunities as of late. I’ve attended many a press conference in my day but never hosted one. Here goes nothing!
Speaking of New York City, this is going to be a real fun week, I reckon. In addition to my usual The MMA Hour hosting duties, and this presser, I’ll be covering WWE Survivor Series for BT Sport, as well. The event goes down Sunday in Brooklyn, and we have some fun things lined up. Do y’all think The Rock shows up on Sunday?
A few of you have asked me recently why I haven’t done anything for BT over the past couple months. Well, for one, I have been very busy with the shows, but this was always the plan. Without getting too in the weeds, BT didn’t hire me to cover UFC events for them — they have a fine team already doing that. They also didn’t hire me to produce content for them every week like some of my other gigs. The plan was always big WWE shows, odd boxing events, MMA interviews (like the Conor McGregor one in July) and other stuff. In other words, have no fear, everything is humming right along, just as I had hoped, if not even better.
I love covering these wrestling events for BT because they are breath of fresh air from the MMA events. I enjoy how different -- yet somewhat similar it all is -- not to mention how accommodating the wrestlers are.
While we’re on the topic of fresh air, I wonder who will do the post-fight interviews for the aforementioned Paul x Fury fight next month? Boy did I have fun doing that last time.
