Some random thoughts on the wild and wacky world of fighting on this lovely Tuesday in the Tri-State Area …
Kevin Holland is a real-life superhero. Full stop.
Check this: per multiple reports, a gunman opened fire in a Houston-area sushi restaurant last night. Reports stated that 40-50 ppl were inside. Three men immediately took the gunman down, subdued him and took his gun away. No one was injured. One of those men? KEVIN FREAKING HOLLAND. I mean, c’mooon.
He did it again! Remember back in October when he took down a car thief? Two days after he fought Kyle Daukaus, mind you. What a guy. I’m not sure if this is good luck or bad luck, but this is just tremendous stuff. They should give him the key to the whole damn state of Texas at this point.Greg Hardy’s last fight was the final one on his UFC contract. I’m told it’s a long shot he’ll be brought back. Not a done deal, but considering how his last three fights went (all stoppage losses), I’d be very surprised if the UFC brought him back. Curious to see where he goes from here. I think it’s safe to say he hasn’t turned into the fighter the brass thought he’d become.
Remember last week when everyone was reporting that Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Chandler was a done deal? Would you believe if I told you Ferguson had yet to sign a bout agreement at that point, let alone even have one in his possession. All is relatively good now, I’m told, but I can’t believe this actually happens.
All is good with this weekend’s UFC London main event after some concern Russian-born Alexander Volkov would not be able to compete. His team, for whatever it is worth, never seemed worried that he’d be removed from the card.
