Two-Cent Tuesdays: Ngannou bets on Bitcoin, front-runner for Harrison, Chimaev-Burns, Edwards-Usman and more
Some random thoughts and nuggets on the wild and wacky world of MMA on this Tuesday morning …
Francis Ngannou is going to officially announce today a new partnership with Cash App that will allow him to convert half of his UFC 270 purse in bitcoin, I’m told. As part of the deal, he will also announce that he is giving away $300,000 worth of bitcoin to fans via his Twitter and Instagram.
“After learning more and more about bitcoin, I truly believe it is the future of money,” Ngannou stated (via his agent Marquel Martin). “Bitcoin has the ability to empower people all over the world and that’s why I’m excited to partner with Cash App to give some of my fans the opportunity to own some bitcoin of their own.
”Bitcoin is the future, and I hope to help lead the way in Africa.”

Speaking of Ngannou, I don’t agree with people who are saying there is no buzz for this weekend’s main event. Maybe I live in a bubble, but it feels like we are all champing at the bit to see the heavyweight king fight again, and I think the buzz will only grow come Saturday night. Plus, there’s about 45 intriguing storylines attached to this fight. What more do you want?!
