As we approach the New Year, there's a lot of UFC 300 talk, but not enough UFC 400 talk. Why look to April 2024, when we can look to April 2032?
Who on the UFC roster today do you think could still be around and fighting MEANINGFUL fights (with title implications) on the UFC 400 card? Here's some names I have in mind:
- Khamzat
- Erin Blanchfield
- Brandon Moreno
- Michael Morales
- Raul Rosas Jr
- Muhammad Mokaev
- Bo Nickal
- JDM
- Sean O'Malley?!
Any others? Who do you think will be the Jim Miller of UFC 300 - 500? Happy Holidays!
Hi Ariel, on saturday Dana was alluding to the fact that Colby was waiting on the sidelines in order to get a title shot. I’m sitting there thinking “wait, didn’t he previously say Colby was willing to fight?” Even Colby said he accepted all the fight offers. Why is Dana now back tracking????. Was it just a way to stop the public from questioning their decision to give him a title shot? Ridiculous how he contradicted himself. Wondering your thoughts on that?
Just curious to hear about your relationship with Belal. Until now I just thought the only obstacle between you guys is the Ali A. situation. He even often responded on twitter to MMA hour stuff (which honestly is quite ridiculous). Would you still consider him as a guest on the show despite different - lets say - political stances, or is that ship sailed?
First time, long time. Random question: You always hear claims that a fighter is ducking another fighter (either before agreeing to a bout or pulling out of a bout), whether by feigning and injury, sickness, illness, etc. Although, it's hard to imagine, I was wondering if you have ever received confirmation that this was the case with a fighter? I wouldn't expect names to be dropped, but have you heard of any fighter pulling out or not agreeing to a contract claiming to be injured or ill and later find out it was untrue?
Thanks for being part of my commute for the last 9 years, appreciate the great work.
First - Congrats on another successful year for the MMA Hour
Second - question for the team. Listening to Ariel for roughly 8 hours every week, what are some of the “top ariel helwani mannerisms or sayings that come to mind” - I’ll go first, “In any event”.
Congrats on the exciting announcement last week that you will be covering the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, working with the legendary CBC. Any more details on that? Will you have free reign on what sports you will be covering? And may I ask that when you're there, if you see the opportunity, please use the incredible platform and your insurmountable influence as a media icon to push for MMA, BJJ & Muay Thai to be in the Olympics.
Thank you to you and the crew for all you do, and thanks for giving me a reason now to watch the Olympics.
Do you think if Colby actually tried to fight Leon, even if he ended up getting knocked out, if he tried, would he be getting as much hate as he is getting?
What are your thoughts on Romans Reigns vs The Rock in a “Ring of Fire” match for the WWE Undisputed Championship? The Ring Of Fire match takes after the Undertaker Boneyard match in that it’s a pre-taped, pre-produced match. This overcomes the biggest obstacle of Hollywood & Insurance blocking the project. The ring would be tribally inspired, and be shot at the location where they filmed the island scenes for Hobbs & Shaw. Additionally, certain areas of the ring will be filled with water so that it can be incorporated into the production (Uso Splash, Superplex on to the water, etc.). We could introduce it by having Roman face off against Solo in this for Summerslam 2024 to determine the Head of the Table. Being pre-produced, it can be the opening match, and it guarantees a lot of people being there in the beginning since it’s the first match of show.
It is always great to hear your wise soccer commentary. What is your current opinion of Jude Bellingham's amazing season at Real Madrid? As a midfielder he scored more field goals than Erling Halland and Kylian Mbappe so far!!!
I know you spoke about it on Monday’s show, and with MVP himself , but I truly can’t wrap my head around the way his signing was so casually announced at the post fight presser. Do you think the lack of enthusiasm behind the announcement is indicative of how the UFC see him and his star power?
Happy holidays to you and the whole crew, enjoy a well earned break and I look forward to the shows return in the new year.
Congratulations on your award mate - Big love from Brisbane, Australia!
To the best of your knowledge, have a TUF contestant & coach ever fought in the octagon? Doesn’t have to be a head coach, or even from the same season.
Joseph Benavidez fought Tim Elliot in 2014, and then Benavidez was a coach and Elliot a contestant in TUF Tournament of Champions in 2016. Only time it's ever happened. If Julianna Pena and Meisha Tate ever fight it will be the 2nd time.
Your stance on not paying guests and going on MacAfee’s show with the Patty situation happening has me wondering your thoughts about McAfee paying Aaron Rodgers to come on the show.
I thought McAfee made a good point about Rodgers coming on as a guest greatly helping him build a platform, and he thought it was only fair to repay the favor with compensation (though Rodgers never asked).
What are your general thoughts about this and does Pat McAfee’s status as a pseudo journalist matter?
I remember last year you talked about how you like the movie 8 Crazy Nights. You referenced the technical foul song 😆 . I loved hearing that! What do you like about that movie?
Bonjour Ariel! This is David from Winnipeg (Slurplee capital of the word) Long time listener first time question asker. I thought I’d ask a question before the break,
Have you ever considered compiling a few of your favourite interviews and releasing them into an MMA Hour episode as like “the mma hour rewind” or something like that. And kind of explain why you like the interview, or maybe have a theme like “post ppv winners” or something similar, and could be released weekly on Fridays. I only ask this because I often find myself at work with nothing to listen to, so I would like to see you perhaps make a little compilation series of your past interviews and post them on Podcasts and/or the MMAF YT channel for those of us who are all caught up with your show but still want more content.
Keep up the great work, Enjoy the holidays and we’ll see you next year!

Hallo Ariel
I just wanted to tell you and the crew happy holidays.
My last few weeks were quite tough, from losing my cousin and grandfather to a break up just a few days ago.
I don’t really know how to move on, but your show is a short escape.
Thank you all for all you do.
Greetings from Germany my man
Sorry for your losses bro. I'm going through a break up after 8 years right now as well, never fun. Brighter days ahead
Thanks bro, I know that time heals every wound, but it’s just a difficult time man. Don’t know how to move on sometimes, but it has to go on I reckon.

Ariel,
I cannot believe you didn't talk about the biggest win on the weekend.
Smilin' Sam Alvey becoming the inaugural Heavyweight Champion at Karate Combat 43. Put some respect on the GOAT's name
Merry Christmas to you all at The MMA Hour
Appreciate all the hard work you all do

Is this for real???? Because that is actual news!
Maybe I should have won journalist of the year...

Also shout out to the crew, without them the show wouldn’t be possible, love the discussions with NY Rick, GC and of course Frank!
