Wassup Ariel and team, hope everyone is good. Do we think that shavkat appearing on the jon jones vs Ciryl gane card is going to be the breaking point to which he gains attraction and becomes noticed by causal fans?
What does Volk have to do to be considered one of the actual greatest of all time? To be up there with the GSPs and the Mighty Mouses of the world? Is it still possible?
Ariel, just wanted to make a comment about the cost of being a UFC fan. As someone who is way to anxious about buffering issues to ever risk missing a big moment, I buy 95% of all UFC PPVs. Occasionally I will have a scheduling conflict that causes me to miss an event, but I don’t let that happen often. I hear you constantly saying that asking a fan to shell out $75 is a big ask and I appreciate you shedding light on the issue. Sometimes the price is warranted, often times it’s questionable. I’m sure many other viewers in my position have yelled at their screen/phone/radio when they hear you bring up the $75 price recently, because as of last month and UFC 283, the price is now $80.
Which leads me to this question for the crew. When you get together, are invited guests pitching in on the cost? Is it rude to ask? How much are we pitching in? What are the social norms to having guests over or being invited to an $80 PPV gathering?
I have watch parties with friends/fans for every event. Usually the host doesn't pay and the $80 gets divided up between the rest of us, or we all pay and the host drinks for free.
In the last 6.5 years, our man Dustin Poirier has only lost twice: Khabib and Charles in championship bouts. He is the only top 7 lightweight coming off of a win that isn’t already matched up and the only lightweight in the top 15 PFP not named Islam or Charles. Given how Volk’s (all respect to the #1 PFP King from Down Under) fight played out, I think DP could also get in there and make a fun, exciting fight, that he could win. Given the current lightweight landscape, this is the best PPV match-up, as Conor is already lined up and not making ‘55 anytime soon. Could you and the team get behind this fight next in lightweight while Volk unifies the Featherweight belts?
I support open scoring 99% of the time. But I think open scoring would have hurt the quality of the Volk v. Islam fight. Without knowing who was ahead, that 5th round became one of the most fun, dramatic, and iconic rounds I can remember.
Picture open scoring, though: If Volk knew he had to get a finish in the 5th to win and Islam knew he could coast to victory, would we have been robbed of the 5th round spectacle we witnessed? Do you feel like open scoring would have negatively impacted the quality of this specific fight?
Btw, NY Ric's comments on the "Zero Sum Game" of post-fight reactions were spot on. Thanks for you wisdom Ric!
Hey Ariel! Quick parenting question, when teaching your children about defending themselves (if and when it’s absolutely necessary) do you prescribe to the “never swing first” philosophy, or the Sonnen “I can’t let you get close” philosophy?
Thanks for the consistent quality entertainment to you and the crew!
I wanted to get your thoughts on Verdict MMA, the app where people can vote for who won each round. If this global scorecard was implemented as a replacement for the judges, would this FIX judging? Or would it become a popularity contest?
What would a Sami Zayn win in Montreal mean for you and the city? You've mentioned how much the pro wrestling scene has grown in Montreal and I'm just wondering what that looks like to you.
Hello, fan since 2011 but first time asking a question. I believe you when you say that no one told you to not share the news about Brock Lesnar fighting at UFC 200 and the narrative the UFC staff, for lack of a better term, tried to put out about people losing their jobs if it gets out was false. However, something I've wondered for a long time is this, did only a select few people know about that news? If they did were any NDAs in play? Last and most importantly, how did you learn of it and then confirm that news? Keep going, love your work!
He’s never gonna reveal his source on that, you’re gonna have to find out when you buy your copy of Highway to Helwani, probably after his source is long retired/deceased.
This might be a question for GC. But huge debate at work. What is the proper way to halve a biscuit? Do you use a knife to cut it open or just split it in half with your fingers?
Hey there Try The Acai, for future reference I only do 1 question per asker for OTN. Only 21 questions to work with so it's a level playing field that way. Love the enthusiasm though.
I figure I would ask multiple questions to give you plenty of questions to choose from and, if you wanted to choose one, you could choose the best question. Is that okay to do?
Of course, post as many as you like but just know I'll only select one. I also think if your name matched your YouTube name, it would pop the live chat.
What’s up Ariel
We see what you see when you have a guest via zoom, but just out of curiosity, what does your guest see? You at your desk? A close up of you?
Thanks
Can we get an answer to if they can see what we are seeing or not?
Like do they see the merch when they show it

Happy Valentines Day to the best show in sports!

Any news on the James Krause?
Be unbiased, how would the Bills have done in the Superbowl?

Is Prime actually good or is this a work?
