I haven't heard you or the crew ever talk about or mention the UFC weigh-in show they have been doing in recent years. I find myself really looking forward to them. It's always hilarious vibes when Sanko, Hellie, DC and Weidman are on. Recently we got to see DC try Tim Horton's timbits and good ol' Canadian poutine for the first time.
I'd just like to know your general thoughts on the show and if it's something you and the crew pay attention to?
Ariel - All of these odd decisions by the UFC/Dana White, i.e. not letting fighters announce their fights, not allowing the fighters individuality and personality stand out, no effort in the walk outs, etc. Are these all done to intentionally stifle the popularity of fighters? It seems like it. I just don't understand why they don't make a big deal of these fighters, half of them it's their dream to be there so why not promote them? Thanks, love the show(s) and appreciate all the crew.
Ariel, not sure what else I gotta do to get a question read. I ask the same one every week. Will try again! Do you know why the UFC has stayed away from Chicago? At this point every major city has had an event come back to their city. They are even going global again but for some reason Chicago is left out of the equation. Bellator had multiple events here before they were bought. Would that be part of the reason?
Shout out to my guys Rick and GC and of course the sassy Mysterious Frank.
UFC get site fees from the cities. So basically the City of Chicago aren't paying the UFC. As a fan also from Chicago, Bellator is our only hope. Bellator 301 had UFC PPV quality fights tho.
All of the sudden October 7th happened, Muslims like Mokaev started to hate on Helwani, a Jewish man, even though the conflict has been going on for a while now. It's weird how Ariel has nothing to do with the war, but all the Muslim fighters refuse to come on the show. (as far as I remember)
Plus a lot of Muslim fighters (not all) are managed by Ali so there's almost 0% they'll be on the show. (Islam, Usman, Umar, Ankalaev, Belal) But there has been clients by Ali on the show, like Kayla Harrison and Blonde Brunson.
Hi Ariel, i know you had a separate basketball podcast from the MMAHour but have you ever thought about having some basketball oriented interviews on the MMAHour show too since you already do WWE stuff on the show which is not MMA related either. I was thinking it would be cool if you could get Jalen Brunson on the show to talk about being an all star for the first time
Canadian legend Nardwuar the Human Serviette has been mentioned a few times in the history of On The Nose. ‘Ariel Jacobs’ is an excellent example of a factoid that Nardwuar might have surprised you with in an interview, had you never previously mentioned the story on air. GC, NYRic, and Mysterious Frank, what Nardwuarian factoid might be revealed about YOU in an interview with the man himself?
Does MysteryMC have some hip-hop verses he laid down in freshman year, now buried on a hard drive back home? Was Con the Don suspended in the ninth grade for running a sportsbook operation behind the portables? Does The Middle School Gazette still run E. Jackman’s Fashion Files? I’d love to hear some early-career unknowns from our favorite flat organization.
Hi Ariel & Team! I have a hypothetical situation and would like to hear your thoughts, especially NYR’s since he doesn’t think this is a big deal.
Cody Rhodes winning the Royal Rumble and deciding to give up his chance to main event the biggest show of the year to The Rock is like Dustin Poirier being next in line for a title shot but saying nah, I’d rather see Conor McGregor get the next chance because he’s more popular to the casual fans.
Remember, in this WWE storyline, Cody Rhodes himself decided this, not Triple H or Nick Khan. In the UFC hypothetical, Dustin decided himself and wasn’t told by Dana White. Would you be ok with Dustin Poirier’s actions in this situation?
Quick one from me this week. Wondering if you can put your manager hat for a second and use the Wizard Of Oz managerial technique on Rick, GC, Mysterious Frank and Andy? Tell us whom you think is:
Dorothy - Has lost their way and is just missing the guidance.
The Scarecrow - has everything they need to succeed but is just missing the knowledge piece.
The Tinman - total rock star but needs more heart.
The Cowardly Lion - simply needs to find the courage to showcase their strengths.
Hello Ariel and the gang, with the NFL pro-bowl competitions coming to an end and all the marketing for the NBA all star games going on, have you ever thought about how the UFC could have an All star or pro bowl weekend? Maybe like an old school high-school wrestling duel meet where teams made up of fighters from each weight class duel it out and compete as team that is selected by UFC fans. They could also have skill competitions like hardest punch, kick, ju jitsu bouts, Ietc. I think it could be really interesting and would like to hear your thoughts. Much love from the great city of Lake Elsinore California.
Rapid-fire question - one for Ariel, GC, and NYRic,
- GC: Should the Hawks trade Dejounte Murray?
- NYRic: In the Social Media world, there's been a lot of talk about hyper-specialization in one platform vs. spending time developing presence on multiple platforms. Do you agree with this strategy, from a business perspective?
- Ariel: I'll be in London the first weekend in March and want to go to a football match. Can't go too far out of London, as I fly in Saturday morning March 2nd. So within reach of me, which would you choose of the following (I've only been to a match at Old Trafford)
Last Saturday, we saw Nassourdine Imavov being deducted a point for kicking Roman Dolidze while he was down. But, should Imavov have been deducted a point?
I thought the rule in Nevada was that the hand/fingers needed to be “weight-bearing?” To me, Dolidze’s hand was not weight-bearing and he was doing exactly what the rule tries to prevent: trying to take advantage of the downed opponent rule to prevent being struck.
Thankfully, the point being taken didn’t ultimately impact the correct result of Imavov winning, but please help me understand why a point was taken in the first place.
My question this week is how long do you think it will be before Turki turns his attention to the UFC and trying to create super fights he wants to see? Will they be able to resist the money he can put forward? If they can’t, how do you see him getting involved?
Hey Crew! Cheers for getting me through night shifts - Lad from Manny. (Man-e)
Considering 5 of the next 7 UFC Fight Nights between now and April are at the Apex what are your thoughts on WHY the ufc host events there so often? Do they not lose money on possible ticket sales?
I understand it’s easier as they have everything set up but at this point it’s a sub-prime product and will only allow organisations like the PFL to catch up by hosting events in areas begging for spectacles & events like we’ve seen in France recently.
Since those UFC APEX tickets are $1,750 for 70 people, they make $122,500. Which covers the pay for 5-6 athletes. If Dana really believes in free speech, more fighters and media members should speak about it.
Sup Ariel,

Bet. I’ll have to check out the next one!

Hi Ariel, Why did muhammad mokaev say he will not go on your show anymore?
All of the sudden October 7th happened, Muslims like Mokaev started to hate on Helwani, a Jewish man, even though the conflict has been going on for a while now. It's weird how Ariel has nothing to do with the war, but all the Muslim fighters refuse to come on the show. (as far as I remember)
I want even aware of this. That's too bad.

Hi Ariel,
Last year, you mentioned that you were planning to have your uncle, Gad Saad, as a guest on The MMA Hour. Are there any updates regarding this???
Hi Ariel, i know you had a separate basketball podcast from the MMAHour but have you ever thought about having some basketball oriented interviews on the MMAHour show too since you already do WWE stuff on the show which is not MMA related either. Howdy Ariel,
Besides the Buffalo Bills, which NFL team do you think deserves/needs a Superbowl win the most, and why is it the Dallas Cowboys?
All the best and thanks for the shows.
Shout-out to the chat!
P.S. I ended up making chicken tacos for the potluck get-together I had last week, and they turned out great! I'm sure Frank has been dying to know.
GO COLTS!
The Colts might be the only team to have a wilder owner than the Cowboys. Respect.
Lol. You aren't kidding.

Only hope for Jones x Ngannou ever happening

Ariel,
Who of the fighters that you have fallen out with, do you hope to reconnect with most one day.
I would pay top dollar to see a conversation of Colby, Dana, Ali and Helwani.
