Is there anything more you can tell us as to why Leon and Colby have not fought yet?
Did Leon want extra time off? Was it Colby who was delaying the fight?
It just seems a weird situation with how long it’s been since Leon beat Usman, and the fight has still not even been announced for December. It may not even happen if Jiri and Alex go December instead.
Would love Leon back on the show to hear his take on all this
HOT TAG… in the event of a draw, does neither fighter get a win bonus? How would that work since nobody truly won the fight? (Even though we all know who really won at Noche.)
Secondly, speaking of the female divisions, who the hell is going to fight Juliana “The Parlay Vixen” Peña for the strap? Because it appears the UFC has zero interest in crowning a new champ in that division
On the UFC website, there's 5 upcoming fight nights listed. Of those listed, 4/5 will take place at the Apex and one will take place in Brazil. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, but yesterday you talked about how special UFC Noche was - and I agree. Fight night cards have the potential to be just as special as PPV's if there's just a modicum of thought and character put into them.
My question is, do you think college football's tv dominance on Saturday plays a role in the UFC's decision to host all of these Fall events at the Apex? Do you think they're having difficulty making the business case for holding fight nights in arenas with the added advertising competition brought on by college football?
The UFC has talked about traveling more for the past year, but it's. just. not. happening! Commiserate with me please.
--- and to my dirty bird GC, rise up ya hearddd!!!
What are your thoughts on how the PFL has handled Kayla Harrison? From an MMA fan perspective, it seems like she went from being the face of the PFL to not even being recognized in the organization after she lost. One of my favorite things about the MMA culture is how losing is treated differently than it is in Boxing. Seems like everyone in boxing is terrified of losing and terrified of not being undefeated, whereas in MMA we know someone can lose multiple times and still find a way to the belt (Charles Oliveira).
Thanks
PS I am an undefeated pro #HelwaniBoxer with a record of 0-0. Wouldn’t be possible without your guidance 🙏🏼
Finally, The Rock has come back to WWE! The Rock made an electrifying return to WWE SmackDown on Friday night in Denver, where he and your boy Pat McAfee dropped the People’s Elbow on Austin Theory.
Do you think this means The Rock will be returning to participate in the Bloodline storyline and possible buildup to a match with Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania next year? Or was this a one-time appearance out of convenience since he was in Colorado for College Gameday and the football game? What’s your take on this?
Hello Hello! We are 2/3 of the way to the UFC Attitude Era. If Colby beats Leon for the strap, can you imagine a UFC 300 stacked with O'Malley, Strickland, and Colby? I know many don't think there's any point of including Conor or Izzy on 300 since they both do crazy PPV numbers by themselves. But this trio for 300 would be insane!
This week's social etiquette question is about how to call over your server at a restaurant. I was recently served my meal at a busy restaurant and asked for some sauce on the side. The server forgot the extra sauce and I proceeded to snap my fingers to get their attention. According to my partner this is a big no no. I should wait politely as long as it takes until they notice me and then proceed to ask. Snapping, clapping, raising the hand, calling them over are all unacceptable.
What are your thoughts on switching to round-by-round majority voting by judges that results in one final scorecard for the fight? This change would maintain the current judging process with minimal adjustments, eliminate split decisions, and mitigate the influence of a single outlier judge. For instance, if two judges score Round 5 as 10-9 in favour of Grasso while one judge scores it as 10-8, the final round score would be 10-9 due to the majority vote. As another example, the KKF-Albazi fight decision would have gone to KKF with KKF winning rounds 1, 4 and 5 by majority vote. GC might also appreciate the new opportunities for gambling this could create, such as parlaying specific round winners with fight winners, etc.
On another note, how does a champion's PPV points payment work if the title fight is on a Fight Night? I can't imagine Grasso banked the same pay at Shevchenko did fighting on a 285 Jon Jones PPV...
I was wondering how the PPV points worked for Alexa Grasso this past weekend? Since the match was a draw, and technically not a "defense," does she still receive PPV points for the bout? Also, how would it work with the title fight being on a non-PPV nights?
This was an ESPN+ card, so if Alexa received PPV-points, how would that work?
Would appreciate any insight into this, as I loved the massive, title-fight night on an ESPN+ card, but worried that these aspects would deter a lot of champs from doing the same in the future.
Hola Ariel and Frank - As MMA matures and fans hopefully become more knowledgeable (not guaranteed I know), I hope the UFC stops treating fans like idiots. For example, price gouging is one example. No company that cares about its fans should price gouge. Shoutout to the Brazillian fans at UFC 283 who refused to pay outrageous prices and stayed away. No shoutout to the Aussie fans who overpaid for tickets without even knowing who's on the card guaranteeing they'll get price gouged again the next time.
One other example is this idea of putting a fighter over by matching them up vs an overmatched opponent. I feel for Terrance Mitchell for getting paid $20K to get his brain beat on after getting the same from Saaiman. The UFC served him up. After taxes and expenses, was it worth a couple grand for Mitchell? Was it worth it for Kris Moutinho to take 100+ shots to the head vs O'Malley? Val Woodburn vs Nickal? This ain't pro wrestling, there's consequences for the losers and for what?! To create a highlight reel that doesn't mean anything. We didn't learn anything more about Rosas. All the best to him, he's a talented kid, but come on man, that feels as fake as pro wrestling, but worse.
So the UFC 5 Game recently dropped. Since it has dropped Izzy, and Shevchenko have both lost their belts. Should Volk be worried? Do you think the UFC would prefer to have Izzy and Valentina in a rematch for the belt considering they are on the UFC Game or do you think this isn't a consideration at all. Thanks, love the show
Sugar Sean recently came out and said that 292 did around 570k PPV buys, and it got me thinking. Will we ever see a 1M PPV card any time soon? Outside of Conor I can't think of any matchup that would generate enough buzz to cross the 1M mark. Jones at MSG? O'Malley vs Chito? Volk vs Islam 2? Curious to hear your thoughts on any potential matchups that could happen in the next few years that you think could approach the 1M mark.

Hello Ariel - With the news of PFL buying Bellator. What are some of the best fights they can put together? Thank you and have a great day!
Without doubtDillon Danis vs Jake Paul in MMA 😂. Ohhh and Cyborg vs Kayla ofcourse too
I'm excited to see who Usman can get matched up with

Yo Ariel! Now that Vince is the CEO of TKO. Do you see him having any direct influence with UFC events?

Hi Ariel, where’s DC? It’s been awhile. Wondering when the dynamic duo may reunite. Love the show.
