Where does this leave Burns? The winner of this fight likely jumps him in the rankings. He has the over Thompson, but the division is too top heavy at the moment for that win to earn him another title shot. Luque and Burns are close friends so that’s probably off the table, and Nate Diaz is interested in fighting Luque. Chiesa is booked against Brady. Magny and Belal all the way down the rankings at 8 and 9 just doesn’t have any juice in my opinion. I think the biggest fight for Gilbert is if Khamzat Chimaev is able to make quick or dominant work over Li, we could see him slingshot up the rankings. Burns vs. Chimaev early next year?

Burns is on Twitter trying to take that Strickland fight since Rockhold had to pull out.

I love the Burns vs Chimaev idea. That is a crazy big test for him considering Burns is a beast on the ground. I like that match up a lot.

Sounding like February might be a Izzy/Volk card

Leon Edwards needs a new business manager. Feels like he's been bullied in to taking his last 3 fights. If he leaves UFC there will be no shortages of offers for him to be a premier fighter in a promotion. The funny part would be that the UFC can't even downplay the talent gap between champs because their champ has been ducking Edwards for years.

I think this is a great fight for him. If he wins this in a quality way his title shot will have more steam behind it. Also, he probably made a lot of money from this.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Usman is ducking anybody.
