UFC: Ladd x Dumont & Bellator 268 discussion thread
arielhelwani.substack.com
Happy Saturday, friends.
We’ve got another UFC vs. Bellator evening on tap. I think it’s pretty safe to say the top of the Bellator card, which features the semi-finals of their light heavyweight tournament, is most intriguing, but there are some interesting bouts and names sprinkled here and there throughout the two cards.
I’m most looking forward to Ryan Bader vs. Corey Anderson and Vadim Nemkov vs. Julius Anglickas.
Am I the only one who thinks Bellator should exclusively have their cards focused around either a Grand Prix or title fight? I feel like it’s hard to go from a great card like this to Tim Johnson vs. Fedor in a span of a week. If all Bellator cards had someone in their prime like Pitbull, Nemkov, Pettis, or McKee each card would be must watch. Having these half assed cards of older fighters and bad match making really dilutes the overall product and momentum imo.
Ariel, I am ashamed to report, that I will open the fighter and the kid podcast on youtube, just to see if they continue the feud...Otherwise I would have never even clicked on any of their videos!!!
They asked Punky Brewster what he thought the main card fight of the night would be and he started talking about a prelim fight that just happened. Not the Bess brains for the art
I am watching 2 things at once but did they just say one of these fighters in Bellator has his teeth taken out before the fight and put back in after? Or am I hearing things
Ladd goes from being removed from the card two weeks ago, into the main event against the number one contender at 145 pounds. Realistically a win over Dumont could jump her into a title shot at 145. Nothing at 135 stands out after the Pena bout right now imo.
Dominant round and finish, Nemkov defends his title
In the last 15 years the StrikeForce Heavyweight Grand Prix has gotta be the best American MMA tournament right?
I think Anderson beats Nemkov. What a fun fight that will be. Remember, Anderson has wins over Blachowicz and Teixeira.
Armbars are such a bad idea in MMA
Nemkov seems to have a proper game plan
Find you someone who loves you as much as Big John and Josh Thompson love talking about speed advantages
Anglickas should have chased the finish a little more there but instead gets taken down
They really just compared this to Rocky vs Apollo Creed
Are they going to have fans in Russia anyone know? Not sure how the restrictions are there
Eye poke stoppage would be the most Bellator thing ever rn
Fighters with custom fight shorts and white gloves looks so much cooler than the venum fight kit

Big John is not good on the mic
That was savage. Bader looks pretty shopworn rn.
Called tht one

Reading through the comments it sounds like I didn’t miss much skipping the fight night 😂
Hope we have to good ones coming up in Bellator
Bader damn auto correct 🤦
I have no clue what to expect with Vader vs Anderson year and a half ago Vader would have been a huge favorite
I think Heelwani is in Punky Brewsters head, been tweeting about him 3 days straight and he can't tawlk tonight
I feel like Primus might have had a shot vs Islam Mamedov if it had been 5 rounds
Thanks as usual Ariel for hosting these fight chats
29-28 Primus, 30-27 wouldn't surprise me either
I really don’t like these commentators
Bendo controlled the first half of second round, Primus had back control the whole second half. Close round
Bendo looking good halfway through 2nd round
Gave Primus first round, he can get to comfortable on his back, it cost him his last fight
I do not like the bellator gloves
Primus has great rubber guard game and has done alot for a couple of my friends in Portland, hope he gets the W

Josh Thomson is hard to listen to.

There is no way Bellator is worse than that at least that will save the night!
Corey Anderson wants the easiest fight in the division.
Haha Chris Lee scored a 48-47
PPVs have been great. FNs not so much.
truth be told, the last few fight night lineups have been bad.
too many cards = watered down product. that was bad.
Who has the bigger talent gap in their respective division, Shevchenko at flyweight or Nunes at featherweight?
Ladd stuck in *pick your character* mode for 3 rounds
I’m glad Ladd’s corner is being brutally honest with her after two rounds
I think they both were watching Walker vs Santos from 2 weeks ago

Who has the worse tattoo? Alan Belcher or Felipe?
How's taste?!?!
Just curious, how long is something considered “new”?
It’s funny that UFC never shows Jan beat Adesanya in their fight promotion vids. There’s no talk of it anymore as if it never happened!
would you put Jim Miller in the UFC hall of fame?
Wow! What a night for Miller. Most fights all-time in the UFC and a KO victory!
Woooww good for Jim Miller. Love to see it
